Simply Chocolate is based in Copenhagen. Up here it’s too cold to grow cocoa beans. But it´s hot enough to have a love affair with great chocolate. Copenhagen is a very old city with a highly vibrating pulse and plenty of room to nurture a new kind of chocolate. Since we began in 2011, a lot of people have shared our desire. Not just for what we do, but apparently also for how we do it. We appreciate that.

This is as good as it gets!



We’re named Simply Chocolate, so it’s not that complicated. We create chocolate that tastes good. We wanted to make a product that not only your mouth but also your body would love and therefore we are very picky when it comes to our ingredients. We don’t use laquer, artificial colourings or additives in our chocolate. Life is too short for that. On the other hand, we didn’t want to make boring, plain chocolate.

With that in mind and in order to become the most modern, cool and tasty chocolate brand in Scandinavia (now in Europe) we are continuously working to develop and discover any opportunity for great taste within the headline of only natural ingredients.


Entering the Travel Retail & Duty-Free industry has been a big focus area during the last couple of years for Simply Chocolate. Recognizing the great potential for brand and product, Simply Chocolate engaged a project developing an exclusive chocolate protein bar for Scandinavian Airlines. A product which now has been voted in as a finalist by shoppers, for the 2019 Travel Retail Awards in the category “Best Confectionary Product. We named the product “Hand Luggage”.

“We’re proud that we got the task of creating a bar for Scandinavia’s own airline. This is Scandi cooperation at its best! SAS wanted to be able to offer their travelers a quality chocolate bar without causing problems for travelers suffering from nut allergies. Without hesitation, our development team went to work and the crunchy almonds became the solution. By combining chocolate and passionfruit with protein we have created a great snack that keeps you full during long flights – making Hand Luggage the essence of traveling,” says Niels Østenkær, CEO of Simply Chocolate.

Serious producers are sustainable

“The serious players in the industry know that we must work with sustainable produced ingredients if we wish to continue to be able to make chocolate products. This is why we at Simply Chocolate only use Cocoa Horizons-certified chocolate. But the local aspect also plays an important part – we produce all our chocolate bars by hand here at our small factory in Copenhagen, ensuring that we know exactly what goes into our bars,” Niels Østenkær says, hoping that the nomination will make other companies see the value in having a chocolate bar customized to match their brand.
